Welcome the new CALM director Nico Stuurman!
We are very happy to announce that the CALM has a new director Nico Stuurman, PhD!
Many people may already know Nico.He is returning to UCSF after working at Altos as the Microscopy Hub Co-Director. Previously, he worked as a research specialist in Ron Vale's Lab at UCSF for nearly 20 years, where he also worked closely with our microscopy core throughout its history, in addition to helping many others at UCSF. He is well known for his work pushing the boundaries in microscopy, particularly in microscope software development, including being on the development team for the open-source microscope automation software Micro-Manager. Nico also has a long history of training and teaching microscopy and data analysis as well (you may also know him from iBiology videos).
We are very excited to have Nico and the new innovations and teaching ventures that this means for the Core, so, please stay tuned!
